New Season of RISE

During the spring semester, VHHS is excited for our new season of RISE. Each year, RISE brings students, faculty, and families together to support cancer research at UAB O’Neal Center. During this special season of RISE, it’s important to mark our calendars for some important fundraising dates.

First in January, the kickoff assembly featured Olympic-style performances and a torch lighting ceremony. After the kickoff assembly on January 24th, students danced and celebrated at Sadie Hawkins. The tickets and proceeds for the dance will be donated to RISE.

In February, the Poetry Club will deliver Poetry Grams for Valentine’s Day. Students could purchase different poetry to be delivered. All proceeds will go to RISE.

Next, remember to sign up for the Rebel Run 5K, register on GoFan before Friday, 2/13. The color run will take place on February 28th at 9 am. Whether choosing to run, jog, or walk the 5K, students will all experience the added fun from the colors.

One of the most important dates this spring is RISE Day on April 11th, 2026. Each RISE Team will set up tents to fundraise. In the past years, there have been boba stands, cakewalks, crocheted stuffed animals, T-shirt sales, poker tents, and more. Each creative fundraising effort is a part of the Rebel spirit in action.

During RISE Day, another meaningful tradition is the Luminary lighting event, a beautiful moment of reflection and remembrance to honor those who have been affected by cancer. Community and connection are core reasons why RISE matters so deeply.

RISE will also include a Kids’ Day that involves the broader Vestavia community, creating connections and encouraging the community spirit.

Throughout the semester, RISE is more than a fundraiser; it’s VHHS’s commitment to compassion, service, and unity. Throughout these meaningful events, students will make a real impact while having fun and creating beautiful memories.

As this new season of RISE begins, everyone is encouraged to get involved. Together, we RISE. Go Rebels!
