The media below contains the opinion of an individual student and therefore does not represent or speak to the values of Vestavia Hills High School and Vestavia Hills City Schools

The votes are in!
A form was put out among the student body to settle the debate over who is the best teacher at Vestavia Hills High School. Before we get to the results, some disclaimers are in order.
First, only 54 entities were tallied by the end of the voting period (a far cry from the 2,000+ member student body), so it's important to note the fact that many students either didn’t hear of the election at all or were otherwise disinterested in sharing their voice.
Second, the purpose of this article isn’t to diminish the efforts of the teachers with few or no votes. We are very fortunate at Vestavia Hills to have a plethora of incredible and distinguished teachers here at Vestavia Hills. That being said, we still wanna know who the favorite teacher is here. Surprisingly, the race wasn’t as cut and dry as you might think.

We had our front runners for sure, but even with only 53 entries, 16 teachers had at least 1 vote. It's incredible that there was such a wide range of teachers and coaches that resonated with students, and it goes to show the caliber of educators present at Vestavia. It’s now time for what you’ve all been waiting for!
In third place with 5 votes is coach Cameron of the golf team. In second place with 7 votes is Dr. Horton of the band. Finally, in first place with 10 votes, you know him, you love him, you’ve at least heard of him if you’ve taken an English class at Vestavia, it’s Mr. Sinnott of the English department!

When asked what he believed set him apart from his colleagues at Vestavia Hills, he stated that he doesn’t believe anything he does is radically different from what most of the other teachers at Vestavia are doing. He instead attributed the results to the kind of students A.P. Language(a class exclusively taught by Mr. Sinnott) attracts as well as the synergy between himself, his students, and the structure of his class.
In the form, we also asked the students why they love the teacher they voted for. Comments from Sinnott voters include “He helps me learn and is funny so I pay attention”, “His policy of fluffing up grades, so we don't have to worry about them, making us actually more willing to challenge ourselves and risk failure”, “He is amazing at teaching and I always felt like I learned a lot whenever I left his class”.
Congratulations to Mr. Sinnott, Dr. Horton, and Coach Cameron on the top 3 spots, and thank you to all of the diligent teachers at Vestavia who make school fun, engaging, and memorable!
