Anyone associated with Vestavia Hills High School knows about one particular day in December reserved for a concert known as Celebrate the Season. This day is full of holiday-themed performances from the school’s arts programs---band, choir, dance, theater, and visual arts---bringing everyone together for an incredible display of holiday cheer. This year’s performance was just as spirited and fun-filled as the rest, adding to the many concerts that have been performed over the years. Celebrate the Season has truly become a staple of the holiday season in Vestavia, and the unique design of this concert is a major contributor to its popularity. 

Truly Celebratory: Bringing Everyone Together

For the students and staff of Vestavia Hills High School, the holidays are filled with thousands of their own unique traditions, but Celebrate the Season brings them all together. With four performances throughout the day of the concert, everyone has the chance to enjoy this event, even those who don’t attend Vestavia Hills High School. This concert not only allows members of the audience to interact with one another, but it also allows the performers to all create something together. Unlike most schools, this concert includes performances from all of the arts programs within Vestavia Hills High School, generating a concert that celebrates all of the arts rather than just one in particular.

Celebrate the Season has become a VHHS tradition for everyone involved and for the audience that views it. Some students have performed in Celebrate the Season for their entire high school career, and most students have watched it every year, even if they haven’t participated in it. Celebrate the Season has been performed for so long; the students and staff anticipate it. Celebrate the Season gives the students and staff something to look forward to during the holidays, especially since it can be considered a stressful time with exams and other end of the semester activities.
