AP Photography is an advanced art elective taught by Dr. Fisk. This class is usually offered to juniors and seniors who have completed other photography courses throughout their time at the main campus. This elective allows students to express themselves through photography. Throughout this course, students learn different camera techniques, lighting, photo composition, and Adobe Photoshop, as well as other photo-editing skills. For students who enjoy taking pictures, this class allows them to take a simple interest and turn it into more of a meaningful idea or concept. All students in this class are encouraged to think about their own unique stories, ideas, and how they may be able to communicate different emotions, ideas, themes, and perspectives into their own work.

The main focus of this class is creating a portfolio, which seniors submit at the end of the year to the College Board to have the opportunity to earn college credit and have their portfolios judged by a panel that will score them 1–5.

What makes AP Photography especially interesting is that every student has a different approach to all the same assignments. When given the same topic, students will create completely unique and individual work based on their own unique outlook and perspective.

Overall, AP Photography is more than just learning how to take a good picture. It is an opportunity for students to challenge themselves, develop new skills, and see the world from a different perspective. Whether students are interested in pursuing photography in the future or simply enjoy being creative, this elective gives them a chance to capture moments and turn them into something that is meaningful and creative.
